I like to see a line of washing blowing in the breeze. The colours of the clothes break up the sense of stormy, late February weather approaching the stone farmhouse in this picture. I love walking and the things I see while out and about inform my paintings, large and small. Sometimes I have my materials with me but sometimes not and all I can do is make some notes to take back to my studio. This picture, along with others, was made after a long walk in the limestone country of North Yorkshire.
I have used oil paint, soft pastel and pencils on primed paper. The painting is mounted on some white cartridge paper then backed with decorative paper. My idea is that it doesn't have to be framed unless you want to frame it. It looks great propped on a mantlepiece or shelf like a favourite postcard.
The image measures 11.4cms x 7.5cms approx.
The paper backing measures 12.5cms x 9cms
The painting comes in a cellophane bag.
