This small monotype print explores the creation of a series of smaller print works exploring those who came to the United Kingdom via the vessel Windrush. After the Second World War the citizens from Britain's colonies were invited to live and work in Britain.
This series of print works explore miniature portraiture, resonating with the small photos many people carry in their purses and wallets, or small photos in frames carried from one home to another of loved ones and family, carrying the dreams and aspirations of a generation, seeking a new pathway and new horizons in a new land, a new jerusalem.
These prints form part of the ongoing 'Lost Generation' project.
There are three version of this portrait, each one gradually getting slightly less ink, as though slowly erasing from memory. Each print is unique, therefore each are treated as singular prints and therefore numbered 1/ 1.
