"Wildflower Woodland Dream" was inspired by a lovely forest where the trees form an arch. In creating this vibrant canvas, I combined bold expressionism with impressionistic touches, my creative process continues with intuitive imaginative development of the painting. Golden light plays through beautiful leaves and blossoms creating dappled shadows and sunlight while the forest floor is abundant with flowers. I have used tones of gold, pink, green and magenta to create a feeling of freshness and optimism. A sense of distance has been created by the use of delicate painting techniques so that the viewer feels as though they are taking a journey in to the painting. It's a dreamy woodland escape, where wildflowers dance with light; an invitation to lose oneself in nature's embrace. This piece will infuse any space with the tranquil yet inspiring energy of a forest bathed in dawn's first light. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
