This is an oil painting from the series of paintings "Wildfires". Images of trees on fire, branches and trunks lit up by the light of the flames in the darkness of the night, silhouettes of the trees disappearing in the smoke bringing to mind only about looming environmental crisis, but also wars, destruction and violence, pain, fear and despair which seem to be infesting the news and affecting lives of so many people. I wanted to paint some of the wildfire scenes as collective images reminding us about worrying prospects of seeing more and more landscapes like this in the future and the pressing need to connect with our humanity, our planet and nature that we have been taking for granted for too long.
