The rugged coastline of Cornwall – turquoise water broken by whitewater, craggy cliffs and rolling landscapes – is captured in 'Wild near the Lizard' with loose oilpaint applied with brush, palette knife and spray. Paul has painted, surfed and windurfed around these shores for many years and is a subject and atmosphere that is a constant theme in his painting and sketching. Rough impasto style application of oilpaint accentuates the ruggedness of the shoreline with translucent application of oil creates the drama in the sullen sky canopy.
