An acrylic painting made from wild flowers picked in Jura while we were sailing in the beautiful west coast of Scotland. Although the weather was unsettled, there was an abundance of beauty all around, including a wonderful selection of wild flowers everywhere.
This was painted not in a studio but on my little table easel on our boat. There was not much space on board but I think that adds to the mood of the work. The acrylic paint I use is Golden Open which acts very like oil paint. First, I made a drawing with charcoal then block in the colours lightly. Gradually I create layers of stronger colour and build the composition until I am happy with it.
