This is the well known Mute Swan along with a Whooper Swan in Welney Wetlands, Cambridgeshire, UK
This was an exciting day as I have not seen a Whooper before. They spend their Summers in Iceland and overwinter in a few locations around the UK. They have exacting needs regarding habitat and only 15,000 can be found in the UK and have amber status. Though they are of similar size to the Mute Swan, they are easily differentiated by the beak colours, orange in the Mute and yellow in the Whooper. Also the distinctive swelling in black on the top rear of the Mute bill is entirely absent in the Whooper
