Original artwork description:

I photographed this tiger at a UK wildlife reserve where he was happily cooling off in a pool. The initial drawing I made from those photos developed over much time and only recently upon reading about the mythology of Baihu (guardian and symbol of the Chinese constellations) I made the decision to apply the dark celestial background to the composition. I also added hints of blue to the eyes - look closely and you will see that within them the cosmic background is mirrored - and also to the water further enhancing the spiritual symbolism of this magnificent animal.
