The population of tigers is 4000-6500 individuals, of which the Bengal tiger is the most numerous. Among Bengal tigers, there are white tigers - individuals with a congenital mutation. The frequency of appearance of white tigers is 1 in 10,000 with a normal color.
The first discovery of a white tiger in nature is attributed to 1951, when one of the hunters took a white male tiger from the lair he found and then unsuccessfully tried to get the same offspring from a female with a normal color, but then still succeeded in creating a second generation white tigers. Over time, the population has expanded significantly: all the white tigers that are now kept in captivity are the descendants of the same individual found and are related to each other. Now there are about 130 white tigers in captivity, of which about 100 are in India.
The Bengal tiger is listed in the Red Book. As of 2020, hunting tigers is banned throughout the world.
People should protect the tiger population and take care of all nature.
