"This piece is a great example of expressionism. One can see the depiction of a beautiful sun rise hitting a body of water. Within a specific color pallet, individual colors are layered on the canvas in quick decisive strokes. The strokes of color, value and texture work together to achieve its depth of field. Unifying the painting by the use of pure white adds a top layer and creates a painting that shimmers with color. This technique seems effortless but requires much knowledge from the artist."
