The special dynamic of this painting is created by the contrast between white illuminated horse mane and the dark background. The horse seems to be carved on a dark background. This makes it possible to emphasize all its features and details with particular clarity.
I'd really say, that this horse turns itself it into a light source. It shines like a lamp or like the sun itself. But the most accurate to compare it with the moon, because the principle of its glow is the same. The moonlight is the reflected light of the sun. This horse also reflects light and becomes it.
