'White Dinghy' is a pencil drawing inspired by a beach found at Ballycotton in the east coast of Ireland. The drawing is based on a number of photographs taken on site and sketches made in situ.
The main subject of the scene, the white dinghy, is hidden behind the rocks towards the top of the image. The horizon line being pushed upwards allows the viewer to explore the seemingly uninteresting sand and pebbles of the foreground. The artist hopes to encourage the viewer to look for the dinghy behind the rocks.
The drawing wishes to question reality in a lighthearted way, through the use of contrasting colour of the sky and the orange rope of the buoy, the main subject of the dinghy being white.
The drawing is sold unframed at 18 x 36 cm.
Frame is available upon request. Please contact me for details.
