Young Indian woman wearing a White Anarkali dress. This was inspired by a trip to India particularly Rajastan and Uttar Pradesh.
I work in acrylic because it allows me to experiment, making changes quickly is paramount when wishing to explore my options. I apply the acrylic in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint some areas with a more opaque use of the pigments. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 3" brushes to spread the washes and break up the linework. The work is painted on a Superior Rolled Canvas board as I like the rigidity and fine surface, plus the longevity and resistance to damage has a proven record.
Finished with a coat of Winsor & Newton Satin UV varnish, this not only protects the painting, but has a unifying effect. A suggested frame width of at least 60mm or more for this size painting.
