On our safari, one of the most exciting sightings was the wild cats. We saw leopards and cheetahs, yet the lions remained elusive. We walked and drove around the areas we thought they might be—large rocks and savannahs—but we couldn't find them. We saw their footprints and heard their roars at night, so we knew we were close. It wasn't until the end of our trek that we finally found a pride. And then we found another one. We were finally able to observe the majestic movements of the parents and the playfulness of the cubs. Up close, we could see all their scars from their hunts, where the prey had obviously fought back. I felt a sense of awe, and it occurred to me that they truly are the "kings of the jungle."
