Original artwork description:

There is an irony in painting a still life of a beehive. It should be a place of buzzing activity and life. But this hive is devoid of life - it is still. The decline in bees numbers is well documented - no bees, no pollination, no food, no life. The hive sits alone, surrounded by space devoid of vegetation. The use of a palette knife to introduce delicate texture gives the painting a contemporary feel to an evocative subject.

This painting is sold unframed but is suitable to do so should you wish. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.

The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.

I ship internationally using an insured, tracked and signed for service. Please note that payment of import duty/tax is the responsibility of the buyer.

Materials used:

Oil paint
