This painting sold to one of the the first people that saw it, but it is available as a print. It shows one of the old engine houses at the Wheal Coates mine in Cornwall. I drew it in September 2020 during a brief stay nearby. That part of the Cornish coast has stunning scenery and an amazing mining history. The word "Wheal" is Cornish for "a place of work" and was used for all the mines in Cornwall. Wheal Coates was mainly a tin mine but also produced copper. In 2006 Wheal Coates became part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape".
Pencil drawing, inked with a paint brush with different concentrations of black ink.
