"What the night delivers" and other works from the series "Love or Money", explore the deep connection with land and sea scape that the Artist's father gave to her; taking her with him on his day and night fishing trips when she was a child. Working with the memories and emotions of both joy and saudade for time past and experience gained, her practice reflects a fundamental need to express the bitter- sweet nature of the human condition through abstracted scape and form. During the painting process Parr builds a reverberating relationship with the canvas, utilising both spontaneous and considered gestural building and washing of the canvas, aiming to invoke an atmosphere drawn from both the process and the initial emotional trigger.
