When working on more figurative painting I still consider them portraits, the body has to hold as much emotion as the face. I very rarely work with professional models as I believe for the kind of work I do it is the person I pass on the street that tends to hold so much just beneath the surface if only we can find the time to look. In the case of Katarzyna this was very true, and the more I got to know her around the painting the more I found within.
