Artwork description:

This is a hand pulled drypoint print from my 'What are you looking at?' collection.

The drypoint is produced by hand-drawing the design into a sheet of plastic and then the plate is inked up using the 'intaglio' method before being run through the traditional press. Each of the figures depicted in this range were chosen because of their sense of strength and attitude. They serve as a reminder of the strength within each of us, something that is always there even if we may have lost touch with it.

This work is very much inspired by contemporary fashion photography. It is created in response to the images seen in magazines such as ID, AnOther and Vogue and is a celebration of and a reflection on the beauty in each and every one of us.

Each print in this edition of 30 is produced as a variable edition - the effect produced when rubbing away the ink and the subtle changes in ink colour all go to ensure that despite being in an edition, that each print is in itself unique.

Materials used:

Drypoint print using oil based printmaking inks on Somerset 300gsm printmaking paper
