This is a patch of woodland very close and very well know to me, just on the ridge above Wendover, where I live.
Here a group of fallow deer forage in the early morning before the dog walkers appear.
I've picked out a young deer in the foreground, alert and listening for sounds of trouble.

I built up the mottled area of the foliage using a variety of different brush strokes, and colour combinations.
