Original artwork description:

Cley is a small village on the north Norfolk coast road. We wound our way through the village, past the pub, village shops and art gallery before parking the car and starting the circular coastal footpath from Cley to Wells Next the Sea. I made this picture by sketching the mill and houses whilst sitting on the edge of the path using a waterproof ink pen and later applied a watercolour wash. The area in the foreground features a recently cut reed bed and two small dingies which are rowed along the narrow drainage dykes.

Materials used:

Bockingford 200lb Not (not hot pressed) watercolour paper, Windsor & Newton Artist quality watercolour; cobalt blue, light red, raw Sienna with a touch of Paynes grey.
