Welcoming Witnesses - an original acrylic gouache painging of a church door.
I love stone-masonry and these two time-worn head-pieces framing this bright scarlet door captivated me. I wondered where this door was and who were its main users.
Capturing ancient architecture in paint is a way of holding a moment - safe from the ravages of time, wind and rain.
The palest whites and greys were used to paint the limestone blocks that frame the door and lamp black was used for the ornate ironwork on the hinges.
You can even see an old boot scraper at bottom right.
This is a quiet, reflective painting which I hope you will enjoy.
I shall parcel your church door original very rigidly and it will have tracking to ensure safe delivery.
Thanks for coming to my gallery.
