I met Wayne early in 2021. Wayne has been homeless on the streets of Southampton for a considerable period of time. I found Wayne to be a really nice guy, he is calm, relaxed and hopeful. He would often sit and think. I often wandered where his thoughts were taking him, sometimes his eyes would sparkle and I was never sure if it was tears of sorrow or joy.
I wanted to paint Wayne in a realism style and create a background of thoughts, a dream world, an escape from reality.
