An extra large and extremely dynamic oil painting. At 60 inches square it will be a powerful centre piece in any location. The painting is on linen canvas and stretched over a composite wood and aluminium stretcher, the structure of which will prevent any risk of warping in areas of high humidity even if hung in a bathroom.

Waves as they form then roll are fascinating, they can take many forms and living in close proximity to the sea is a privilege to have such an endless source of inspiration to observe daily. Amid all the energy that waves generate the colours and shapes can be really interesting. This painting is just one short moment in time capturing one wave of many on a bright sunny day.

Painting waves on canvases of these proportions is something that goes back a good many years for me. The excitement of painting these dramatic images was something that I embraced in the late 1970s and still continues with the same enthusiasm.

For me it is not a question of competing with photography. My wish is to provide a different and unique emphasis, reality and realism certainly but with particular attention to colour strengths, patterns and individual intensities.

For a contemporary style of presentation this painting is ´gallery wrapped´ which is when the painted image is extended around the outside edges. As a result there is no requirement for additional framing.

This painting will be shipped in a purpose built plywood box container to ensure safe transit. Please note for some international destinations there will be duty/tax due at the time of delivery. This is the responsibility of the purchaser, advance information will be provided at the point of sale. As a guide USA, E.U. and Australia are in the region of 5%.
