I love this little hamlet of Vic-la-Gardiole, wedged between the Ingril pond and the 'canal du Rhône à Sète'. Most of this preserved space belongs to the 'conservatoire du littoral' which prevents the area from further building. This watercolor was painted at the end of August, early in the morning, on the left bank of the canal. In the background we can see the pond and the Gardiole mountain range. In this work I tried to transcribe the calm and serenity felt in this place, by highlighting the contrasts between shade and light as well as the reflections in the water. I hope you'll have as much pleasure looking at this relaxing timeless seascape as I had to paint it in-situ.
