Watershed: Mosses
Large painting on heavy watercolour paper responding to the habitat of the watersheds of the Pennines. Geographical features, map markings, personal gesture and place names come together in these large scale black and white drawings and encaustic works. Maps contain a wealth of insight into our attitude towards the land, and this is noted through the use of names in the drawings – each place name denotes a term for a marshy water-collecting environment reminding us of the supreme importance of preserving and encouraging these habitats, not only for their own sake, but for the important carbon storing capacity of these upland wet areas, and for their ability to slow and tame flood water.
The work will be rolled for shipping, and can then framed or hung from battens.
All of my paintings are original and handmade by me
Paintings will be sent to you unframed, (unless otherwise stated in the description) and protected with cellophane or paper, in a re-enforced padded envelope or recycled box, on a Tracked Delivery service with the Royal Mail or Parcel Force International for large items.
