With his catch firmly clasped between his fearsome kingfisher beak this popular British riverside bird is set for the day.

Take your mind to a summer's day along a serene riverbank deep in the English countryside and imagine that tell-tale teal and orange flash as the kingfisher does what he does best! This homage to the king of the riverbank was a joy to paint.

I loved painting the strong diagonals in this painting to create a compelling watercolour - perfect for the lover of kingfishers specifically and birds generally.
I painted this original watercolour on handmade Two Rivers 100% cotton paper. It is 200lbs in weight with a slight tooth to the paper and it shows of the bird and his plumage to great effect.

At 7.5x9 inches this would make a lovely bird focal point in your home.
