I have loved drawing water lilies, lotuses, and aquatic plants since childhood. Thumbelina (H.H. Andersen) and fairies of lakes, vodyanoy (from Slavic fairy tales) surrounded by water lilies, and later Shakespeare’s Ophelia played a significant role in my love for these plants. Then Claude Monet, Chinese artists influenced this love. I paint water lilies in different interpretations, but it is always a search for the purity and virginity of nature.
