This painting was started in 2022 after researching the site for another painting. While walking across the heath to Sloden Wood, I came across this little pond, possibly a bomb crater from the second world war. I named the painting ‘Water Hole Below Sloden’ and added a second pony for balance. The colour of the heather and the rising ground with the wood on the crest of the hill, completes the composition. The frame is a dark rich gold with a light slip which adds quality to the painting.
