WATCHING

is a unique original Acrylic painting on stretched canvas measuring 100 cm x 100 cm x 5 cm
We are watching and aware of the effects of Climate Change on our wonderful planet
The painting is a vibrant , energetic , positive response to the many people watching analysing informing and taking action to save our planet.
I began the painting after I marched alongside the youth strike 4 Climate in Brighton It was overwhelming to see so many young people focusing on climate change . My painting presents a child like happy image but carries an important message .

My abstract work is often a simplification of reality. A pared down version of an image experienced and rooted in my head . By using such a method, I create paintings with a strong visual impact to draw in the viewer and force questions , exploration and discussion.

Representation Colours
Yellow,
is the most luminous of all the colours of the spectrum. It’s the colour that captures our attention more than any other colour, and it's often used to alert us to danger
blue
It’s nature’s colour for water and sky,
black
the absence of colour symbolic black hole
white
melt patterns and changes in sea ice,
Fire orange and red are symbolic of heat

Composition
The composition embodies all of the elements above the use of complimentary colours assist the visual impact. The painting was composed by layering, a translation of the ozone layer, painted with an energetic applications of paint to give a striking painterly confident message.

The stretcher frame is made from high quality wood from Sustainable Forests and the profile is in one single piece. The canvas can easily be hung without further framing due to the stability of the thick stretchers. which have a cross support bar for increased strength. I use a professional quality Stretched Block Canvases 380 gsm 100% cotton. Primed with a low-absorbency universal primer.

The painting has been entered into the inaugural Climate Change art prize, which is a collaboration between Artfinder and Octopus Energy and part of the ‘Portraits from the Precipice’ project . The painting is for sale.
