Original artwork description:

Watchet Rock can be found on West Beach in Watchet when the tide is out. I like to imagine many centuries ago Samuel Taylor Coleridge once sat near this rock during walks along the coast, thinking about The Mariner. It is a rock of contemplation and meditation.

The painting was originally painted in 2017, however, I was not entirely happy with it so I returned to the painting in April 2022 and re-painted the rock and the surrounding landscape, building on top of what was previous there, which can be seen in the limited prints of the work I produced.

I return to every couple of years to paint and draw this rock, exploring it and discovering new colours, forms and shapes from this amazing piece of rock.
