A small painting based on a series of photographs I took while exploring the "back" roads near my home.
The autumn and winter are often very wet and misty bringing a certain mystery to the otherwise mundane landscape. It was my intention to capture the everyday images passing us by as we make the commute to work or to complete other tasks of our lives. I wanted to offset the darkness and grey tones with some hope of colour and light by bringing in the unexpected patch of green and the yellow of the 'Danger' sign on the electricity pole. It is my intention for this splash of colour to jar and unsettle.
The painting is painted on stretched canvas at 20 x 25 cm and is ready to hang.
