Wasp Nest
Mixed media on paper, mounted on foamcore.

Some years ago I found a large paper-wasp nest that had been abandoned by the bees, but was in beautiful condition. I kept it in the studio for years. Fascinating bit of natural engineering. That wasps can make such a thing blows me away.

This is an older painting. I painted it in 1984, and have never put it up for sale until now. It is one that I really like. Watercolor with ink and guache on watercolor paper. Truly one of a kind.

The image size is 17.6 x 11.75 inches. I have mounted it to foamcore board, so it stays nice and perfectly flat. I have to say, though, that the edge of the foamcore backing has yellowed a little bit over the years. It does not show on the painting, just on the backing board.
