The Inspiration: Much of my work plays on the elements of texture and movement, pieces like “Wandering Hearts” embraces both of these elements with the combination of palette knife work and fluid brushstroke movements. Working with palette knives not only creates a texture that I obsess over, but also takes away some control and precision I would usually have with paint brushes. To contrast the rough texture, delicate metallic gold lines bring your eyes into and away from the center of the painting. Like many other pieces, the bold intensity of a high contrast between black and white plays a significant role in this artwork’s composition.
