I love a walled garden. A little micro climate where everything seems to thrive. We took a trip to Wimpole Hall (National Trust) in Cambridgeshire. The entrance to the gardens takes your breath away. Layers of Achillea, Stipea, Crocosmia and Echinops leading you in. Inside the walls it was hard to know where to look - so much to see. Alive with sights, sounds and scents.
I spent ages taking photos for this painting. It was a painting that I just had to create and could not wait to get started. The sky was a perfect blue on the day we visited and the warmth of the walls seemed to radiate across the whole space.
The painting is on a large canvas and is ready to hang.
