The second in a series I have painted on my quest to paint as many European birds as possible, with the hopes of creating a book of these stunning creatures.
Found in the high mountains the wall creeper's habitat stretches throughout Europe and Asia. This painted subject is a female as the male of the species sports a coal black chest.
After a long day/week/year bashing my head against the wall, painting and drawing various subjects from greed of the highest order to police brutality, having the chance to watch and paint living creatures is the perfect salve for my aches. I am determined as much of the natural world remain in place for the next generation to find some solace in.
Painted in acrylic on a page cut from 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady'.
