this is the first piece in a new series of "walking sculptures".
walking is a bit of an odd way of locomotion: in order to move forward at any considerable speed, the body must be constantly shifted from one leg to the other without ever stabilising its balance.
a bit like juggling your own body – and a fitting metaphor for living as a human being in general.
with a background in animation i am fairly intrigued with so-called walkcycles that form the basis for these sculptures.
