Walking Into Sunshine and Plastic Dreams continue my investigations into different art styles which I remix into new interpretations. Again these two paintings are minimalist, geometric and hard edged color experiments following my instincts and intuition. Starting by dividing the canvas into different shapes, working back and forth until I feel a certain balance and rhythm. I decided to limit my colors to 7 or 8 primary and secondary colors on both paintings. They are influenced by many artists including Ellsworth Kelly, Kenneth Noland, Stuart Davis and the quirky abstractions of Elizabeth Murray who I studied under at The School of Visual Arts in New York City.
I used acrylic paint on gallery wrapped archival quality heavy duty cotton duck canvas. The one and a half inch depth of the canvas and the many layers of paint give the canvas almost a sculptural quality. The work is titled, dated and signed on the reverse. The image wraps around the entire canvas, so there is no need for framing, ready to hang.
