In "Figments," I delve into the intricacy of memory and time, taking inspiration from old photography to explore the nature of our own memories. As we journey through life, memories, gradually lose their clarity and like everything they decay over time and transform into fragmented figments.
Using a monochromatic palette, I explore the nuances of light and dark, crafting each scene to evoke a sense of memory (is it my own or is it the viewers?) and through intricate details and subtle contrasts, I try to capture the essence of memories on the brink of decay, suspended in a delicate balance between presence and absence.
Drawing inspiration from the delicate textures and muted tones of vintage photography, I have tried to capture moments suspended in time, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the decaying memory. Through my work, I aim to create a sense of introspection, inviting viewers to contemplate the transient nature of human existence and the inevitable decay of memory. As the pieces blur and distort and look as though they are degrading, mirroring the passage of time, I invite viewers to confront their own relationship with the past and and how their own memories have evolved.
