WALK AROUND CATHEDRAL
Cathedral Rocks, near Kiama’s Jones Beach, is a dramatic basalt formation, sculpted by ancient volcanic flows and the unyielding force of the sea. Likely named for its towering, cathedral-like spires, it stands as a testament to the long-extinct Saddleback Mountain volcano.
At low tide, the rocks unveil hidden sea caves, their entrances shaped by centuries of restless waves.
Slippery, dangerous and thrilling, especially at dusk. The Kiama Coast Walk, a favourite of mine, is at its most spectacular on wild afternoons when the ocean roars and the sky shows off.
Oil on stretched canvas / 40 x 40cm / framed in Tasmanian oak and ready to hang.
