Artwork description:

Driving home from Waddesdon one overcast afternoon I glanced up and saw the Observatory for the first time. The sky was purple, and the hill a vivid green. The metal dome gleamed in the low light.

I chose a very limited colour palette for this print to reflect the unusual colour conditions of that day, and used silver inks to make the metalwork shine out.

I like the incongruity of manmade structures set in a natural habitat - that's why in my print the observatory is viewed through a foreground of local flora.

Materials used:

Zerkall Extra Smooth engraving paper and Schminke water-based inks
