Original artwork description:

The Voynich Manuscript, acquired by Wilfrid Voynich in 1912, remains an unsolved mystery. With around 240 pages of an unknown script and intriguing illustrations, the manuscript defies deciphering due to its unattributed characters. Theories about its origin range from secret scripts to forgeries. Despite numerous failed attempts to break the code, it continues to baffle the scientific community.

My new artworks draw inspiration from the Voynich Manuscript, delving into its mystical elements. Through abstract depictions of unknown plants, fantastical creatures, and captivating star charts, the paintings create enigmatic worlds. Incorporating mysterious symbols and an imaginary script, the artworks add an extra layer of inscrutability. They aim to transfer the manuscript's mysterious atmosphere onto canvas, sparking a dialogue between past and present, reality and fiction. This painterly interpretation encourages viewers to immerse themselves in the unknown, much like deciphering the original manuscript. The artworks serve as visual poetry, expressing fascination for the unexplained and mysterious facets of the Voynich Manuscript's history.
