This work is based on a sketch made during a trip to the Tula region in Russia. I was impressed by the sun-drenched beach. While the clouds were gathering over the river, the opposite bank looked so contrasting, dazzling and bright. And the contrast between the gloomy sky and sunshine coast has inspired me to create this painting.
