Voorlinden – 05-04-20
In these exceptional days of viral mayhem no one expected at the beginning of this year all of a sudden a first beautiful warm day in Spring arrived in The Netherlands. We are not in a complete lockdown here although there are restrictions as to social distancing, washing hands and all that. Nethertheless, I took my chances and at estate ‘Voorlinden’, Wassenaar I kept my distance toward a few others present there keeping their distance too. As an artist my office lies outside since my other office with a live model is closed temporarily.
Strange indeed while nature unfolds itself and when you find yourself in these great surroundings amidst trees casting beautiful shadows are carving patterns in light painted across a hilly landscape. Although a great force of nature finds its destructive way across the globe, affecting many humans I found myself at the very spot where birds sang and the beauty of clairobscurity killed all virus attacks, leaving me nothing more but capturing it.
