Molen (Mill) ‘De Vlieger’ is an oasis of tranquility and admidst the polder landscape reflects an ancient piece of Holland in cities like Voorburg that, just like Schiedam did to Kethel, seem to encapsulate little villages in order to cherish what nearly was lost. Personally I have great difficulties with Charles Baudelaire’s statement artists should portray the present while the latter can only offer flat buildings and repetetive modern unaesthetica in these times. Above all, modern times cannot give me round and organic shapes I love so much.
