Original artwork description:

I had long been fascinated by this round park building, a retro and futuristic structure, nestled in trees in Amsterdam's Vondel Park. I loved its clean, round shape, its evocative International Style. I also loved the way in which one could seemingly relax, birdlike, in the tree tops, nature roughly intruding. This is the latest work in my series of works I know as the Summer of Amsterdam, a return to the city after many years of absence, when the heat was palpable and youth reremembered. The air is full of the sounds of the park, of bird song and shouts, of music too, and scented with coffee, baking, freshly cut grass and heady blossom. The work is colorful, detailed, rich in realism and looser strokes. The canvas is 0.4 inches and can hang without the need for a frame if wished. An ideal souvenir of Amsterdam, a lovely reminder of summer and joy.
