My practice is currently focused on the reinterpretation of high-street advertising through painting. Big business and global corporations spend millions on designers and artists to create advertisements for them, to market their products. My practice is taking back the art from the adverts, reversing the roles. I take these adverts and re-employ them, strip back and pare down to the bare minimum, removing all extraneous images and text so all that remains are the flat colours and simple shapes of ostensibly benign abstract paintings. This deconstruction is meant to act as a subtle critique of the medium of advertising, co-opting the seductive blueprint and transforming it into an artwork.
