Original artwork description:

"How many?"

"Fourteen. Fifteen if you count this one."

Vix twisted the tube to reveal a well-used stub of deep purple lipstick, almost the colour of the darkness at the edges of the dingy attic room. Lips ajar, she slicked it first onto the top, then the bottom, then pressed her full lips together and pulled her index finger through them.

"So how long have you been up here?"

"Two weeks."

"And they still haven't noticed?"

"Dunno. Guess I'll find out sooner or later." Vix wiped the centre of her Cupid's bow with a black-varnished finger. "Should've put pencil on first," she murmured into the pocket mirror. She flipped it shut like a clam shell and fixed her companion with a satisfied gaze. "Ready to go?"

"Aren't you scared? Of being homeless?"

"Oh darling, scared? When you grow up like I did, nothing scares you."
