Picture this: you're deep in the jungle. You're forging your way through dense foliage, the plants seem to surround you as you progressively have to fight harder and harder to push through. Every step through the damp, humid, hot and dense exotic forest feels like a strenuous fight.

But suddenly, you arrive at a small clearing, a single, glowing, golden banana tree stands-out from the jungle. It will provide shelter. You can now breathe a sigh of relief, at least for a while.

This painting, part of Virtosu's "Jungles" series, questions the duality between the represented object (the tree) and the painting's texture. Where does the painting end and the "painted" begin. Look closely and you'll find your answer.
