Original artwork description:

The frequency of red light is the lowest on the spectrum.  Red light is used in a range of therapies due to its ability to stimulate mitochondria in the brain.  It therefore can bring about a healing effect after psychological trauma.  My Red Series is being produced because of my own need to be around these solid and safe blocks of colour.  After working in more nebular forms, the Red Series is a return to pure abstraction.  It is immensely satisfying to paint and creates a kind energy for the viewer due to this specific neural stimulation.  The inclusion of some magenta takes us up to the other end of the colour spectrum, which provides a sense of balance.
